VISITOR POLICY

At Cherry Lane Doodles, the health and well-being of our puppies are our top priorities. To ensure they remain safe and protected, we do not allow visitors to our home. While we understand that some may wish to meet the puppies and their parents before bringing one home, we take several steps to provide transparency and peace of mind:

  • We are happy to provide references from past puppy families.

  • You are welcome to contact our veterinarians for confirmation of our puppies' health care.

  • We offer a detailed health guarantee for all our puppies.

Many online sources suggest visiting a breeder’s home, but these recommendations prioritize the buyer’s experience over the safety of the puppies. Our puppies are raised in our home, and allowing visitors would mean exposing them—and their mother—to unnecessary risks.

SAFETY FOR OUR PUPPIES

Why We Don’t Allow Visitors

At Cherry Lane Doodles, the health and safety of our puppies are our top priorities. While we understand that some families hope to visit before bringing their puppy home, we have strong reasons for limiting in-person visits:

  1. Protecting Immature Immune Systems – Young puppies have fragile immune systems, making them highly susceptible to diseases like parvovirus and distemper. Many well-meaning visitors unknowingly bring in harmful germs, which can have devastating consequences. We personally know breeders who have lost entire litters due to illness introduced by visitors.

  2. Minimizing Stress for Mom and Pups – A new mother is instinctively protective of her litter. The presence of strangers can cause her stress, which releases cortisol into her milk. When puppies consume this milk, they too experience unnecessary stress, which can impact their early development.

  3. Preventing Accidental Injuries – A panicked mother may unintentionally harm her puppies in an effort to assess a perceived threat. In their urgency, some mothers have accidentally stepped on or crushed their own pups. By keeping their environment calm and secure, we reduce these risks.

  4. Our Role as Breeders – While we raise and care for each puppy in their critical first weeks, they ultimately belong to the families who have chosen them. We take our responsibility seriously and do everything we can to ensure they remain safe, healthy, and well-adjusted before they go to their forever homes. If one of these puppies were yours, we know you’d want the same level of protection.

We are always happy to provide references, connect you with our veterinarians, and share regular updates to give you confidence in our program. Thank you for understanding our commitment to raising happy, healthy puppies!

SAFETY FOR OUR DOGS AND FAMILY

  1. Safety and Privacy – When someone reaches out to us, they are still a stranger. Inviting unknown individuals into our home poses risks to both our dogs and our family. Protecting them will always be our first priority.

  2. Respecting Our Family Life – Like any family, we have daily responsibilities, activities, and commitments. Opening our home to visitors interferes with our ability to maintain a normal family routine.

  3. Prioritizing Our Puppies' Care – Raising well-socialized, healthy puppies is a full-time commitment. Every moment spent with visitors is time away from caring for our puppies and dogs. Our focus is on ensuring each puppy gets the attention, training, and care they need to become the best companion for their future family.

  4. We Are Not a Petting Zoo – While we understand the joy of interacting with puppies, our priority is their health and well-being. Unfortunately, some people view visiting puppies as a weekend activity rather than a serious step in responsible dog ownership. We will not compromise the safety of our puppies for casual visits.
