Cherry Lane Doodles Temperament Assessment

Cherry Lane Doodles has been assessed as a Tier Two Puppy Evaluator which is the highest tier obtainable by BAB Evaluators. We try our hardest to assess with accuracy to help our families make the best decision when it comes to selecting the right puppy to match you and your family's lifestyle. Families on our reservation lists receive the Temperament Test Evaluations and YouTube Videos before making their selection.

The scores give our families on our reservation lists an insight into the puppy's personality as of right now. It is not feasible to factor in all variables of a puppy's temperament in one aptitude test; nonetheless, our report provides a solid understanding of temperament and how that may correspond to the specific needs of our reservation list holders. It is our mission to give each puppy a voice in their placement empowering our families to make a powerful and magical match! Ultimately, how the puppy turns out has a lot to do with the training and socialization provided once the puppy goes home, especially over the next 8 weeks. It's important to have a solid training plan in place.

With puppies, some temperament traits are stable, and some are adjustable. Adjustable traits can be changed with some work. Stable traits are who the puppy is to their core. My assessments are of where the puppy is, temperamentally, at almost 8 weeks of age. The environment and training our families provide will also play a crucial role in how the puppy ultimately turns out. We highly recommend professional training to get the very most out of your Cherry Lane Doodle Puppy! Our puppies do wonderfully in professional training classes and are usually the "teacher's pet" and are spotlighted throughout their training classes.

Stable traits include the following.

*Assertiveness (human)- How does the puppy approach a human?

*Assertiveness (dog)- How does the puppy approach other dogs? Assertive does not mean aggressive or dominant.

*Motivation- Will the puppy do what is being asked of him or her?

*Energy Level- Is the puppy always on the go, relaxed, or somewhere in between?

*Prey Drive (intensity)- Does the puppy gravitate towards toys, play tug of war, chase, or have little to no interest in those things?

*Human Focus- Does the puppy seek connection and stay with the tester more than not, or does the pup have little to no interest in the tester?

*Tenderhearted- Does the puppy have concern for the tester when crying or none at all? NOTE- This is important your house has a lot of sad emotions in it quite often, please steer away from a tenderhearted dog. They carry all that weight and sadness with them, and it does the dog a disservice. A dog who is not tenderhearted can provide a lot of comfort to those who experience those emotions but will be able to comfort without holding on to that anxiety.

Adjustable Traits include the following;

*Confidence- Does the puppy approach new situations with curiosity or timidly?

*Nerve Strength/Resiliency- How does the puppy exhibit stress?

*Touch Tolerance- Is the puppy compliant with touch or annoyed?

*Sound Sensitivity- Does the puppy startle to unpredictable sound?

*Sight Sensitivity- Does the puppy startle to unpredictable movement?
