She enjoys being part of family life but is also perfectly content doing her own thing. She doesn't need constant attention to be happy, yet when affection is offered, she is more than happy to soak it all in! That independence is one of the qualities we really appreciate about Gypsy. She enjoys her people without needing to be attached at the hip. She can relax on her own, hang out nearby while the family goes about their day, or entertain herself without constantly looking for someone to engage with her. When it's time for some one-on-one attention, though, Gypsy certainly enjoys a good belly rub, cuddle, or extra love from her family. Gypsy is also extremely intelligent and observant. She is highly motivated by treats and toys, catches on quickly, and responds very well to training. She pays attention to what's happening around her and has always shown us that there is a lot going on behind those expressive eyes! As much as we love Gypsy herself, some of the greatest compliments about her have come through the puppies she produces. Families absolutely rave about Gypsy's puppies. Again and again, we hear how easygoing, incredibly smart, adaptable, and enjoyable they are to live with. They seem to settle beautifully into family life, learn quickly, and develop wonderful relationships with their people. Hearing such consistent feedback from families who are actually raising these dogs means more to us than anything we could write about them ourselves. One Gypsy puppy has given us one of the most remarkable examples of canine intelligence and awareness that we've experienced in our program. This puppy lives with an owner who has Type 1 diabetes and, without any formal diabetic-alert training, began alerting their owner to changes associated with an impending diabetic episode. Even more incredible, the dog has alerted before the owner realizes something is happening and before their diabetic alert device signals. This dog was never taught to perform this task. There was no specialized scent training or formal diabetic-alert training. Instead, this puppy appears to have independently learned that subtle changes in their person mean something isn't right—and then figured out how to communicate that to them. To us, that is an extraordinary example of just how intelligent, observant, and connected dogs can become with their families. The fact that this behavior developed naturally, without formal training, makes the family's story even more remarkable. Of course, this is the experience of one individual Gypsy puppy and isn't an ability that we could ever predict or promise in another dog. But we are incredibly proud to have produced a puppy capable of developing such an extraordinary awareness of their person. Stories like this are exactly why we love receiving updates from our families—we get to see just how special these puppies can become long after they leave our home. For families considering one of Gypsy's litters, we especially love the potential for smart, easygoing, adaptable family companions. Meet Nala: Born From the Best of Both Nala is the beautiful daughter of our very own Gypsy and Teddy, and she represents a very special next generation here at Cherry Lane Doodles. When we decided to keep a puppy from this pairing, we were hoping to bring together some of the qualities we have come to love most from both of these incredible lines—and Nala quickly gave us plenty of reasons to choose her. From a young age, one of Nala's most noticeable qualities has been her strong human focus. She genuinely wants to be with her people and naturally seeks that connection and companionship. She pays attention to her humans, enjoys being involved in family life, and has that wonderful desire to stay close that we value so highly in our dogs. Nala is affectionate, attentive, incredibly smart, and eager to interact. She isn't simply interested in what's happening around her—she is interested in what her people are doing. That natural connection is something that can be difficult to describe until you experience it in a dog, but it is one of the qualities we most hope to preserve from generation to generation. And Nala certainly has some impressive dogs behind her. Her mother, Gypsy, has produced puppies whose families consistently rave about their intelligence, easygoing personalities, adaptability, and remarkable awareness of their people. We have received some truly incredible stories about Gypsy's puppies and the connections they have developed with their families. Then there is Nala's dad, Teddy—one of the most exceptional dogs we have ever owned. Teddy is known for his phenomenal temperament, calm and steady demeanor, remarkable intelligence, strong human focus, and outstanding hip results. He is truly one of those once-in-a-lifetime dogs, and his temperament has made him a cornerstone of our breeding program. Seeing Nala develop such a strong natural connection with people has made us incredibly excited about what this combination has produced. She carries qualities from two lines we already know extremely well, while developing a wonderful personality that is very much her own. This is one of the things we love most about breeding through multiple generations. Nala isn't a dog we selected based solely on a pedigree or what we hoped she might become. She was born right here. We know her parents, we know the puppies they have produced, and we have years of feedback from the families living with dogs from these lines. Being able to take the qualities we value most and thoughtfully carry them into another generation is incredibly meaningful to us. Nala has also completed her genetic health testing through Animal Genetics with excellent results. She carries the coat traits we value in our program, including furnishing and long-hair genetics, along with her beautiful genetically straight coat. We are especially excited about the potential for Nala to help us continue producing the soft, straighter, easier-to-manage coats many of our families love. Before officially becoming part of our breeding program, Nala will complete all required OFA health testing once she is fully mature. As with every dog we retain, being raised within our program does not automatically guarantee a future as a parent dog—health, structure, temperament, and maturity all play an important role in that decision. But so far, Nala has given us so much to be excited about. She represents something very special for Cherry Lane Doodles: the next generation of two lines we already know, love, and believe strongly in. She is incredibly loving, affectionate, social, and deeply connected to both her human family and her doggy siblings. She genuinely loves companionship and is happiest when she is surrounded by the people and dogs she loves. Hart has a wonderful balance of playfulness and calm. She is always ready to join in on the fun and loves playing, exploring, and interacting with her family, but she also has a fantastic ability to settle when playtime is over. Once she's ready to relax, one of her favorite places is curled up on the couch with her people. She truly enjoys the best of both worlds—fun when it's time to play and snuggles when it's time to slow down. One of Hart's greatest strengths is how incredibly social and people-focused she is. She adores humans and gets along beautifully with other dogs. She isn't particularly interested in doing life on her own—Hart wants to be part of the family and involved in whatever everyone else is doing. She thrives on companionship and connection and has a sweet, gentle nature that makes her incredibly easy to love. Hart also has a naturally submissive personality. She doesn't feel the need to be the boss and is perfectly content allowing others to take the lead. Combined with her friendly, affectionate disposition, this makes her an especially enjoyable dog in a multi-dog household and contributes to the soft, loving personality we adore about her. She is also extremely intelligent and has always been remarkably easy to train. Hart catches on quickly, wants to engage with her people, and responds beautifully to human interaction. And perhaps one of the greatest compliments we can give Hart is what we are now seeing in her puppies. Nearly a decade ago, her mother Lucy's puppies played a significant role in building the reputation our program has today. Families fell in love with their incredible temperaments, intelligence, health, and the wonderful companions they became. Word spread, families referred their friends and relatives, and Lucy's puppies quickly became some of the most sought-after puppies in our program. When Lucy retired, continuing her line was incredibly important to us. We knew firsthand what she produced, and we had years of feedback from families telling us just how special their dogs were. Tilly was chosen to carry that legacy forward, and today, hearing the same kind of outstanding feedback from Tilly's puppy families makes this line even more meaningful to us. Tilly has a wonderfully calm, confident, intelligent, and independent personality. Cody has the perfect combination of playfulness and calm. He loves to interact, play, and be involved in whatever his family is doing, but he also has a wonderful natural ability to settle when the activity is over. He doesn't need to be constantly entertained or kept busy to be content. Whether it's joining the family for an adventure, playing with the kids, or simply relaxing at home, Cody is happy to be part of it. One of Cody's strongest qualities is how human-focused he is. As a large Mini/small Medium Goldendoodle, he offers a wonderful in-between size for families who don't necessarily want a tiny dog but still prefer something smaller and more manageable than a traditional Medium or Standard Goldendoodle. He comes from a long line of beautiful, healthy Mini Goldendoodles produced by some of the most respected Goldendoodle breeders in the country. While Teddy has so many wonderful qualities, there is one thing about him that stands above everything else—his PHENOMENAL temperament. We originally planned for Teddy to live with one of our wonderful Guardian families. Saying goodbye to puppies is part of what I do, but after meeting Teddy and watching his personality develop, we simply couldn't let him go. There was something incredibly special about him from the beginning, and we knew he belonged right here with us. Teddy is the type of dog that makes you understand why people say they have a “once-in-a-lifetime” dog. He is exceptionally calm, attentive, affectionate, intelligent, and incredibly human-focused. He naturally wants to be with his people and pays close attention to them without being demanding. He is extremely friendly and social, yet he has a wonderfully calm demeanor and natural ability to settle. He doesn't need constant activity or entertainment to be content—he is simply happy being wherever his family is. His temperament makes him an especially wonderful family dog. Teddy can enjoy playing and interacting with the family, but he also knows when it's time to relax. He is gentle, patient, and easy to have around, with the kind of steady personality that allows him to adapt beautifully to everyday family life. He truly embodies the balance we strive for in our Goldendoodles: confident without being overly bold, social without being overwhelming, affectionate without being demanding, and playful without being excessively energetic. Teddy's intelligence and willingness to work with people are equally impressive. He completed a three-week board-and-train program with Lynn from Canis Kidz Academy, a highly qualified professional trainer and certified Canine Good Citizen evaluator. After spending weeks working closely with him, Lynn described Teddy as perfection and was so impressed by his temperament that she hopes to own one of his puppies someday. For someone who works professionally with dogs and sees countless personalities and temperaments, that compliment meant so much to us. As a stud, Teddy's temperament is exactly what we hope to continue passing down through future generations.
